Let's be honest about it...sometimes editing can be overwhelming.
Are you the kind of photographer that adores shooting, being with the clients and doing what you do best? Do you dread editing? Or do you like editing, but get in over your head and end up with a backlog?
I get it.
After shooting weddings for 15 years, I know what that feels like. But can I let you in on something? Shooting weddings has always been a bit much for me. Don't misread me, I love weddings! But I actually looked forward to the edit more than the shoot. Crazy, right? But, that knuckling down and creating organization and beauty from all of the chaos of 7500 images from one day of shooting is what I live for!
So, imagine if we teamed up?! You shoot and I edit! Then we are both enjoying what we do!
Are you concerned about outsourcing? It can be super-intimidating to think of handing over your images. All the sweat, tears and blisters you spent to get them! A private photo editor can be a tremendous help. This is so different than an impersonal AI tool that doesn't understand your creative eye. This is me, a real editor with years of experience...working with you personally, paying attention to the tiny details you may not have time for day in and day out. Comment and ask questions below and I will see what I can answer for you.
But in the meantime, maybe I can allay some of your worries...
Can I maintain creative control and consistency?
The short answer is, absolutely! The process I use allows me to gather a tremendous amount of information about your style, what appeals to your eye and what your intention is for the images you deliver.
You will share past collections and fill out a questionnaire that I can refer to during my time in the editing cave. :o) This ensures seamless continuity with your past and present work. You also have the option to do a small batch of sneak peeks to indicate how you'd like each portion of the day to look. This is a big help and will help you feel involved in the process! The more of these you give me, the better.
Can I give feedback to improve future edits?
Again, the answer is, absolutely! Definitely plan to outsource more than just one wedding. Why? After the first edited catalog, I will offer to schedule a quick review Zoom session with you to go over any feedback you have for me. This means that next time, I will apply any notes you had and improve. That first wedding is when I will look for the most feedback. This is how we establish a really solid teamwork. The second wedding will be streamlined and you will not need to fill out the questionnaire or give me past catalogs. Simply deliver the catalog, a few sneak peeks and shoot me an email with any notes for specific images (creative edits, etc.) Teamwork is engaged!!!
Can I afford an editor?
This is sometimes the biggest concern. We are all trying to make a living here, right? It is something you will need to add to your budget. This may mean increasing your pricing in some cases or simply taking one 1 or 2 extra weddings in the season. This will generally cover the cost of an editor for the whole season, depending on your wedding or portrait pricing.
Is availability an issue?
No problem, I edit for photographers as far away as New Zealand, although I live in Arizona, USA. Arizona's climate makes for an opposite wedding season to many other places. Since I edit for photographers in many climate zones (and time zones! LOL!) this means that my availability is pretty diverse. I edit all year. This makes it easy for me to get to your catalogs in a timely fashion, usually delivering within 2 weeks for weddings and 1 week for portrait sessions.
